MiCA Notice

Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 on markets in crypto-assets (MiCA), Article 7(1)(e), requires crypto-asset marketing communications to include the statement below. REAL8’s social media posts refer to this page.

“This crypto-asset marketing communication has not been reviewed or approved by any competent authority in any Member State of the European Union. The offeror of the crypto-asset is solely responsible for the content of this crypto-asset marketing communication.”

Risks

Article 6(5) of the same Regulation sets out these warnings about crypto-assets, and all of them apply to REAL8:

  • the crypto-asset may lose its value in part or in full;
  • the crypto-asset may not always be transferable;
  • the crypto-asset may not be liquid;
  • the crypto-asset is not covered by the investor compensation schemes under Directive 97/9/EC;
  • the crypto-asset is not covered by the deposit guarantee schemes under Directive 2014/49/EU.

In addition, anyone who keeps REAL8 in their own wallet should know that:

  • if you lose your secret key, you lose access to your funds, and nobody can recover it for you;
  • transactions cannot be undone, and if you send to the wrong address there is no way to cancel the payment;
  • nobody legitimate will ever ask for your secret key, neither the REAL8 team nor any support service.
