4. Security of your data

We implement advanced security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. We use data encryption, firewalls and other security technologies to protect the information you provide to us.

5. Sharing your data

We do not share your personal data with third parties except in the following cases:

  • Service providers: We may share your data with trusted service providers who help us operate our business, such as hosting providers and analytics platforms.
  • Legal obligations: We may disclose your data if required by law or to protect our rights.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your use of our website. You can set your browser to reject cookies, but this may affect your user experience.

8. International data transfers

We may transfer your data to servers located outside your country. In these cases, we will implement appropriate security measures to protect your data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by email or by means of a notice on our website.

10. REAL8 Wallet and REAL8 API

This policy also covers the REAL8 Wallet at https://app.real8.org and the REAL8 API at https://api.real8.org, including when they are reached through other software, such as the REAL8 Gateway plugin for WooCommerce. The data controller is Asociación Hispanopedia (Spain), sponsor of the REAL8 Project.

10.1 What stays on your device

Your secret key, your address book and your settings are kept in your browser’s storage on your device and are not sent to our servers. The Wallet does not use advertising or analytics trackers.

10.2 The Stellar network

To show balances and send transactions, the Wallet connects from your browser directly to the Stellar network through the public Horizon service of the Stellar Development Foundation, which receives your IP address and your public account address. Transactions, account addresses and memos on the Stellar network are public and permanent. Nobody, including us, can change or erase them.

10.3 Server logs

Every request to app.real8.org and api.real8.org is recorded in our server logs with the IP address, the date and time, the address requested and the identification sent by the browser or software. We use these logs for security and to solve problems, and we keep them for up to 52 days.

10.4 Diagnostic reports

When the Wallet starts, and if it stops working because of an error, it sends a short report to the API with the Wallet version, the page path, the language, the browser identification, whether the device is online and, for an error, its technical description. Secret keys and account addresses are removed before the report leaves your device. The report stores the country derived from your IP address, not the IP address itself, and is kept for 30 days.

10.5 Payments to stores

When a store that uses REAL8 Gateway opens a payment page for an order, the store sends us the order number, the amounts in REAL8 and in US dollars, its public Stellar address, the payment memo, the expiry time and the address of the store page the customer returns to, which includes the access key of that order. We also record the IP address and software identification of the store’s server and, once the order is paid, the transaction reference. The store does not send us the customer’s name, email address or billing address. Anyone who has the link to a payment page can see the payment details it shows. We keep these records to reconcile payments and to answer disputes.

10.6 Card purchases

When you buy REAL8 by card, in the Wallet or at pay.real8.org, the payment is processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe’s page and do not reach our servers. We keep the email address you give, the Stellar account that receives the REAL8, the amount, the status of the payment and of the delivery and, if you add them, the recipient’s email address and a reference. Your IP address is used to check that the purchase does not come from a country subject to international sanctions. We keep purchase records for as long as accounting and tax law requires.

10.7 MoneyGram

Cash deposits and withdrawals are provided by MoneyGram, which carries out its own identity checks under its own privacy policy. For each operation we record your Stellar account, the type and amount of the operation, MoneyGram’s reference and your IP address, in order to apply the limits and location rules that the service requires.

10.8 Addresses at real8.org

If you register a name such as name*real8.org, the name and the public account it points to are published so that others can send you payments.

10.9 Transfers to other networks

When you move REAL8 to or from another network, we record the addresses on each network, the amount and the transaction references.

10.10 Who helps us provide these services

  • Webdock (Denmark), hosting of our servers.
  • Cloudflare, protection and delivery of app.real8.org.
  • Stripe, card payments.
  • Postmark, sending of the emails about your purchases and operations.
  • Google, the fonts shown by the Wallet and the storage of backup copies.

Some of these providers are outside the European Economic Area. Section 8 applies to those transfers.

10.11 Why we use this data, and your rights

We use this data to provide the function you ask for, to keep the services secure and to meet our legal obligations. We do not sell it. The rights in section 6 apply to it, and to exercise them you can write to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (https://www.aepd.es).

11. How to contact us
