If you’ve been following REAL8, you know that our token lives on the Stellar network — a blockchain designed for fast, low-cost payments. But the crypto world is much bigger than one chain. What if you could hold and trade REAL8 on Ethereum, Solana, and other major ecosystems? That’s exactly what wREAL8 makes possible.
In this post, we’ll explain what wREAL8 is, how our airdrop works, and why it matters for you.
What is wREAL8?
wREAL8 (wrapped REAL8) is a version of the REAL8 token that exists on multiple blockchains beyond Stellar. Think of it as a passport that allows REAL8 to travel across different blockchain ecosystems while maintaining its value.
Here’s the key point: every wREAL8 token is fully backed 1:1 by real REAL8 held in custody on the Stellar network. When someone bridges REAL8 to another chain, the original tokens are locked in a secure custody account, and an equivalent amount of wREAL8 is minted on the destination chain. This means wREAL8 is not a separate token with its own value — it is REAL8, just on a different blockchain.
Currently, wREAL8 is available on four chains:

Why does this matter?
Until now, to buy or trade REAL8, you needed a Stellar wallet. While Stellar is excellent for payments, the majority of crypto users and liquidity live on Ethereum-compatible chains and Solana. By bringing REAL8 to these ecosystems through wREAL8, we’re opening the door to:
- More trading options. wREAL8 can be traded on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) like Uniswap, PancakeSwap, and Jupiter — platforms used by millions of people every day.
- DeFi participation. Holders can provide liquidity, participate in pools, and potentially earn trading fees.
- Easier access. If you already use MetaMask or Phantom wallet, you can hold wREAL8 without needing to learn a new ecosystem.
- Greater visibility. Being present on multiple chains exposes REAL8 to a much wider audience of traders and investors.
The wREAL8 Airdrop: What you get
To celebrate the multi-chain expansion, we’re distributing free wREAL8 tokens to early participants. Here’s what the airdrop includes:
400 wREAL8 per person, distributed across four blockchains:
- 100 wREAL8 on Base
- 100 wREAL8 on BSC
- 100 wREAL8 on Optimism
- 100 wREAL8 on Solana
Plus an optional 100 wREAL8 on Stellar if you add the wREAL8 trustline to your Stellar wallet (more on that below).
That’s up to 500 wREAL8 in total — all fully backed by REAL8 tokens locked in custody.
How does the airdrop work?
The process is designed to be as simple as possible:
1. Register with your Stellar address and email
Visit w.real8.org/airdrop-register.html and enter your Stellar public address and email. Choose your preferred language (English or Spanish).
2. We create your wallets automatically
You don’t need to have wallets on Base, BSC, Optimism, or Solana beforehand. Our system automatically generates a wallet for you on each chain and sends 100 wREAL8 to each one.
3. You receive your private keys by email
Once the distribution is complete, you’ll receive an email with all the details: your new wallet addresses, private keys, and instructions for importing them into MetaMask (for EVM chains) or Phantom (for Solana).
4. You’re in control
These are your wallets. You hold the private keys. We don’t have access to your funds — it’s completely self-custody. You can import the wallets into MetaMask or Phantom and manage your wREAL8 just like any other token.
What about Stellar?
The airdrop on Stellar works slightly differently. On the Stellar network, you need to explicitly “trust” a token before you can receive it — this is called a trustline. It’s a security feature built into Stellar that prevents people from sending you unwanted tokens.
If you’d like to receive 100 wREAL8 on Stellar as well:
- Open your wallet at app.real8.org and log in with your secret key
- Go to the Assets tab and scroll to the Curated Asset List
- Find wREAL8 in the list and click the +Add button to add the trustline
- That’s it — our system checks regularly and will automatically send your tokens once the trustline is in place
If you don’t add the trustline, no problem — you still receive your 400 wREAL8 on the other four chains.
What can you do with wREAL8?
Once you have your wREAL8 tokens, you have several options:
- Hold them. As REAL8 grows and silver’s role in the global economy expands, the value of your tokens reflects that. Remember, wREAL8 is backed 1:1 by REAL8, which is designed to progressively track the price of silver.
- Trade them. You can swap wREAL8 for USDC, ETH, or other tokens on decentralized exchanges. There’s already an active wREAL8/USDC pool on Uniswap (Base), with more pools coming soon on other chains.
- Provide liquidity. If you’re familiar with DeFi, you can add your wREAL8 to a liquidity pool and earn a share of trading fees.
- Bridge them back. You can always bridge wREAL8 back to the Stellar network and convert them to regular REAL8 tokens.
How is wREAL8 backed?
Transparency is at the core of the REAL8 project. Here’s how the backing works:
- Every wREAL8 in circulation has a corresponding REAL8 locked in a custody account on the Stellar network.
- This custody account is publicly verifiable on the blockchain — anyone can check the balance at any time.
- The system is overcollateralized — the custody account holds significantly more REAL8 than the total wREAL8 in circulation across all chains.
- You can monitor the reserves in real time on our Bridge Dashboard.
Frequently asked questions
Is the airdrop really free?
Yes. There are no hidden costs. We cover the minting fees on all chains.
Do I need ETH or SOL to receive the airdrop?
No. The tokens are sent directly to wallets we create for you. However, you will need a small amount of the native chain token (ETH on Base/Optimism, BNB on BSC, SOL on Solana) to do transactions later, like swapping or transferring your wREAL8.
Can I register more than once?
No. Each Stellar address can only register once.
Is my private key safe?
Your private keys are sent to you via email and are not stored on our servers after distribution. We strongly recommend importing them into MetaMask or Phantom immediately and storing them securely. Never share your private keys with anyone.
What is the current value of wREAL8?
wREAL8 has the same value as REAL8, since it’s backed 1:1. You can check the current price on app.real8.org or on the SDEX orderbook at stellar.expert.
