Liquidity Pools

Introducing REAL8 Liquidity Pools: Another Way to Trade and Earn

📝 Update — April 2026

Since this article was published, the REAL8 liquidity ecosystem has expanded considerably:

  • Third SDEX pool: a REAL8/USDC classic liquidity pool on the Stellar DEX complements the original REAL8/XLM pool.
  • Soroswap AMM pools on Soroban (Stellar’s smart-contract layer) — REAL8/USDC and REAL8/XLM — using a different, constant-product design than SDEX Classic. These are fully public and composable.
  • The REAL8/wREAL8 pool is no longer private: wREAL8 is now a publicly bridged token available on BSC (PancakeSwap), Base (Uniswap V4), Optimism (Uniswap V3) and Solana (Orca Whirlpool).
  • The REAL8 Silver Wallet now handles liquidity-pool deposits and withdrawals natively — you no longer need to go through StellarX, although that still works.
  • A live arbitrage monitor at w.real8.org/arbitrage.html shows cross-pool, cross-venue, and cross-chain spreads in real time.

The pool IDs and the trading mechanics described below still apply; the update just means there are now more ways to participate.

We’re launching two Liquidity Pools (LPs) on the Stellar network: one pairing REAL8 with XLM (Stellar’s native coin) and another pairing REAL8 with wREAL8 (our special wrapped version of REAL8).

If you’re wondering what this means for you and how you can get involved, we’re going to break it down simply—think of this as another way to trade REAL8, that is safer, and allows you to earn a little on the side.

What Are Liquidity Pools?
A Liquidity Pool (LP) is a shared pot of two cryptocoins (like REAL8 and XLM) that anyone can trade with, managed automatically by Stellar’s system. No middleman involved, just a self-running market.

We’re currently offering:

  1. XLM/REAL8 Pool:
A public pool where anyone can trade REAL8 for XLM or XLM for REAL8.

  2. REAL8/wREAL8 Pool:
A private pool for select users (more on that below), swapping REAL8 and wREAL8.

📝 Update — November 2025

We now have a new Wallet that handles Liquidity Pools in a more efficient manner. Visit app.real8.org for more information.

How can you get into these Pools?
There are several ways to participate in the LPs. Below we describe one of the simplest, providing liquidity via StellarX, by adding your own REAL8 and XLM (or REAL8 and wREAL8) to the pool to help it grow. In return, you get a share of the trading fees.

How To:

Pros of Joining a Liquidity Pool
Here’s why you might want to join:

  • Earn Rewards: As a liquidity provider, you get 0.3% of every trade in the pool. If 100 XLM gets swapped daily, you could earn a small slice—think of it as pocket change that adds up!
  • Easy Trading: Swapping coins in a pool is fast and simple—no waiting for someone to take your offer like in a traditional market.
  • Fewer Huge Price Swings: Pools smooth out price changes compared to wild ups and downs in regular trading. With our XLM/REAL8 pool starting at 1,000 XLM, a big trade won’t tank or spike the price as much—it’s like a shock absorber for REAL8’s value!
  • Grow REAL8: By joining, you help make REAL8 more available and useful for everyone in the Stellar world.

Cons of Joining a Liquidity Pool
Here are some trade-offs of Liquidity Pools:

  • Price Risk (Impermanent Loss): If REAL8’s price rises a lot, you might end up with less value than if you’d just held your coins. You won’t lose anything, but you may not profit as much as holding tight.
  • Arbitrage Nibbles: Smart traders might swap coins to profit from small price differences. You won’t lose everything, but they could take a bite out of your pool share.
  • Locked Coins: Your REAL8 and XLM are tied up in the pool until you pull them out. It’s not gone, and you can withdraw from the Pool at any time you wish.
  • Low Volume Risk: If not many people trade, your fees might be small.
